For some reason a mama duck in my yard was spooked by my child sitting on the porch and left these 7 babies running around my yard! She flew away and these guys were running in all directions! We rounded them up and after20 minutes we think we got them all. We have them in the brooder, with food and water. What are they? My daughter says the momma looked like a Rouen?

Since you're in NC, I'd say probably Mallard, especially since mama duck was able to fly off. Being that they're wild it's best to contact a wildlife rehabilitation center or waterfowl rescue center. We actually have a large wonderful waterfowl rescue here in NC. I don't believe BYC allows much contribution to threads dealing with wild animals due to laws being in place to protect the animals.

Good grief, they're so adorable! They look young. I can't stop looking at their pictures. I have a Mallard pair (they're not mine as they're wild, but they do nest here and I make sure to feed them well before, during, and after) that nests here along side a Canada Goose pair. Both have left now, but I absolutely love it whenever they're here! These seem like some late season little ones, but that's only in comparison to the little ones here.
