Update... Yesterday afternoon momma came back! She kept calling from the trees and all 7 babies went running to our thicket (and momma) as soon as we brought the brooder box outside. Saw momma and babies head to the woods together. ! Definitely a weird day but glad they are back together!

Such a wonderful update! You did a phenomenal job fostering her little ones. I wonder if she's been back before then and maybe missed you? I am constantly in awe of wild animals. Their intelligence and/or natural instincts is really incredible Thank you for being amazing. I'm sure it was a bit difficult to say goodbye and I imagine many folks wouldn't have given them back. Actually, I imagine there's more folks out there than we'd like to think, that would just leave the ducklings to fend for themselves. So, thank you for being an amazing human to these ducklings and their Mom
