What are these for?

Ack--I would love that gift! I love square dishes AND classic white dishes!

Look for the label and try to find the brand/design, and see if you can complete the set...

Or just send them to me, I'll take care of it.

Those egg holders are nice!! Call her and tell her thank you. She sent you something thoughtful and nice. Put your eggs in your egg tray and slide them in the fridge or use them to serve on. How nice it is to have nice things to present your beautiful home grown eggs on. Or just send them to me.

Oh! I went to the link and I think they are gorgeous! You are lucky! My DH would have had the "What the heck?" response too! Maybe she was trying to sophisticate ya!!

I always tell my DH its takes a proud redneck to admit to being one. (We are always refering to ourselves as redneck, hence the signature line!) Maybe you could trade them for something you want?

I already thanked her for them and I do intend to use them. It just threw me off, it is not a very Kristen type gift to get. After 5 years this is the first time we have not received a gift card to Target. I didn't want to be rude and ask her why she got them and I love that she thought of us. I do love the egg holders. I was just curious in case she came to visit and I used them incorrectly the 4 (as opossed to 6) bowls still throws me off.

Thank you all for your in put.

Looking at them makes me hungry for sushi.....

This has been a very interesting Christmas in general. On Christmas Day Justin's parents took us to see the new Tom Cruise Nazi movie (I had asked if they wanted to see Marley and Me)

of course when we got to the theater they wanted us to pay for all the tickets.

His sister lives in Boston and is a very posh person. Maybe she is trying to make me civilized.

I have said many times I would be happier livin in the woods and coming to town 4 times a year. Please don't try to civilize me. I like me the way I is.

I should also note I come from a large italian family .... a 6" plate would have been used as a coaster.

i think you can fit more food on a square plate....

I dunno about other places, but its not uncommon in our family or others around in this area to give the gift of a starter set of dishes. So, she may have bought you the more expensive of the articles that she may have seen on special and thought it would be a different gift.
Its interesting how some people like or wonder what the motive of the gift, not saying your not right, you know the family not I. My Grandmother taught me when I was little, probably 5, we would pick out these red glass serving dishes, vase, but they had a color that was "washed" on like rainbow colors. There were only 5 pieces that were bought of that collection, my gram died.
Needless to say, they are tucked away like many other dishes that have importance instead of use. (thank you for that opportunity to remember my gram. She died when I was 9)
So use those dishes, and think of who gave them to you for it is a gift of prosperity and bounty.
