So the chicks have really taken to the new ‘windows’ I have in their new box that’s in my office. BUT, they are not on the heating plate while they are laying there. As it’s on the other side of the box! So should I move it to the window or just leave them be overnight? My concern is they’ll get too cold tonight. It’s about 70-75 degrees in my office. No fan going. Or will the be able to huddle together enough to keep warm? There’s 6 chicks about 2 weeks old.

thoughts?

Ok! Yes, they have lost a lot of their soft baby chick down as it’s mainly on their neck and breaths still but their backs and wings are more actual feathers than anything now.
Thanks!!

And, I might add, they are quiet and not peeping a lot while laying there so I guess that’s a sign they’re content and warm enough lol

My chicks don’t seem to be using the heating plates either. Last week it was pretty warm so I assumed they didn’t need more heat. I check on the regularly and they seem to be comfortable. At night many of them just sleep in a clump. I have raised it thinking they needed it higher. This is my first time with the heat plates. My birds are now two and a half weeks old.

Also, they seem to huddle by the only open window at night.

Yeah. Mine seem to be fine. They’ve moved from the window now to back over by the heating plate and are asleep when I went in to check on them.

Yeah, mine settle down around the heating plates, but not under them. They Are quiet at night. I think by now they know where to go if they get cold.
