I bought some red slates from porters back in June making them about 5 months old,I'm wondering what you guys think boys or girls? I haven't seen any gobbling or strutting yet either.

They appear to be young jakes? Picture's aren't clear enough to see any spurs forming....do they have spurs forming? I could be wrong but they appear to be males.

If they are 5 months old, they are definitely hens. At 5 months, toms would have much larger caruncles and snoods. Toms would have completely bald heads while your appear to have the "mohawk" that hens have with some light feathering on top of the heads. Toms would also have heavier legs. They also appear to have a light color on the lower edges of their breast feathers which mature Red Slate toms do not have.
