Below are my first hatched first chickens to ever own. Born on May 11th, from regular brown eggs. I got the eggs from my neighbor who says is hens are RIR and that he thinks his Roo is a traditional game cock. While searching photos of Welsummers I noticed that my girls kind of look like them. Could it be that mine are RIR's crossed with a Welsummer roo? If thats so, is it possible for mine to lay dark brown eggs? I'm still waiting for my first eggs, should be soon.

Your girls look very much like what you would get from a game cross.
He was right in what he was telling you.

Your girls' pattern looks to be Black Breasted Red, which is the pattern Welsummers are most commonly found in. That said, Games also come in that color/pattern. From the photo, the feet look to have a greenish/slate splash which wouldn't be typical of a Wellie. I'd take him at face value, they're likely a game cross.

Thanks so much for your replies. I guess my next question is, will they be good egg layers?

Should be good layers, and great brood hens for setting eggs and raising chicks.
