I am fostering my friend's flock, as she has some unchecked predator issues going on. All but #1 are from My Pet Chicken and are between 8 and 9 weeks old. I am about as far away from a chicken breed expert as you can get, but I'd love to know what's staying with us for the foreseeable future...
#1: This is her only surviving pullet, who should be almost ready to lay. Her name is Frenchie, and she has a lot of toes under those feathered feet!
#2: This is (I believe) a Speckled Sussex. I asked her if he could be a cockerel, as he is bigger than my own SS pullet, and has quite a comb. They are the same age. (First picture is hers, the second is my pullet.) I am wondering if this one might be a roo...
#3: I have no idea what this pretty girl might be. The outer sides of her legs are feathered, and she's very glossy.
#4: This is a sweet girl; very friendly. Orange legs.
#5: I really like this gray girl... what is she?
There's also a handful of Polish, and maybe an all-white Houdan... they are SO flighty, it's hard to get non-blurry photos of them. I'll work on those later.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide! This is all so much fun learning about the wide variety of breeds, even if they're "mutts".
