What are we? ***PIC heavy***

Ok... I think I got it!!! After doing LOTS of research and narrowing down the breeds, I've come with what I think is the best answer to what BREED they are... I am thinking they are a cross between RIR's and speckled sussex... That would explain the coloration on speckles and it would also explain the leg color being white on a few of them... Also, something I realized... Ok ok ok... When we got these chicks we had done a lot of research on chickens and raising them but not a whole lot on characteristics of them... So, when the guy we got these from told us that the ones with dark strips on their heads and down their backs were more likely to be "show quality", we believed him.. Not that we were going to persue it, we just wanted pets that would give us eggs... We just thought it was kinda cool... Now, I realize that he was a BS artist who just wanted to dump some chicks on the first person who would take them.... ok.. You can laugh histerically... We were idiots then.. lol... The ones that had the stripes down their back and heads, also had "eyeliner" markings.. Which is also a characteristic of the speckled sussex... What do y'all think? Think I'm on to something here?

And just for comparison, here are the two chicks that have white legs when we first got them...

I think you have a good chance at being right. I was going to say the first one looked like a red sussex, although I dont know how many, if any are in the US. The white legs on the first rooster say its not a RIR or production red, maybe part, but to have white legs, something else is in the mix.

ok... so that possibly solves the breed question... I'm still questioning the sex.. yeah, i know.. Clucky will either crow or lay an egg... BUT, at 17 weeks, shouldn't he (if he is in fact, a he) start crowing already? he clucks... and makes the "bak bak bak baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak" (with the last part being very drawn out) sounds.. But, nothing even close to crowing.... So, this one is confusing me...

With the 2 comparison pics of Clucky and Turkey, I would have guessed at Clucky being a pullet, and Turkey a roo. I can see why people would say Clucky is a roo now though, her

big tail is very pretty! If Clucky is a roo, I would certainly keep "him", as long as you're able... Sounds like a very sweet chicken!
