what are wrong with my Hens??!!??

A question about the 'no treats' post. I feed them laying pellets, plus table scraps (turnip greens, wheat sprouts, rice, etc.), and let them forage for a bit every day.

The easiest way get them back into the run is to give them a few slices of heavy pumpernickle or whole grain bread (2 slices for 5 birds). I get it free, day old, from a friend.

Is there a problem with either veggie scraps or a small amount of bread? I had thought the expanded range would be good for them. They've been averaging 4 eggs/day for 5 birds until the last couple days. (Had a low day of 2 today - first time ever.)

In my opinion, the whole grain breads are a better treat than white bread, which is so refined that the nutrients are removed. A little whole grain bread is not a bad thing. You can make half a slice go a long way by crumbling it up.

ok I installed it today, comes on at 5am goes off at 7am, lets see if it helps them any, and today i got 2 eggs out of all them, saddening
