A question about the 'no treats' post. I feed them laying pellets, plus table scraps (turnip greens, wheat sprouts, rice, etc.), and let them forage for a bit every day.
The easiest way get them back into the run is to give them a few slices of heavy pumpernickle or whole grain bread (2 slices for 5 birds). I get it free, day old, from a friend.
Is there a problem with either veggie scraps or a small amount of bread? I had thought the expanded range would be good for them. They've been averaging 4 eggs/day for 5 birds until the last couple days. (Had a low day of 2 today - first time ever.)
