The past 12 months has been one heck of a roller coaster for our family. We've bought and renovated a house, moved in early July while my wife and baby were still in the hospital, dealing with our foster daughter's 2nd round of cancer treatments, my being an irritable butthead, new job, and lots of little joys here and there such as wife and Timmy's return to good health, experimental treatment for ash to try, and our other foster daughter being reunited with her little brother who moved in on Janurary 28th..

But it sort of all came home this past weekend. My middle son Kev asked me. Dad, so what do you want now? I mean, for you?

Uhhhhhhhhhh...... Not to go 100% grey before 35?
That lazy boy I've been eyeballing for the past 2 years?
Teaching my daughter how to drive without totaling my car?
getting a back scratcher that actually works?
a 2 hour deep tissue massage by Tila Tequila?
100lbs of acorns for my minions in waiting?
My garden?

Bingo!!! For me, I want to totally expand my gardening.. and I've mentioned that on my blog and facebook. It really got me thinking. I love food.. I REALLY love food. So this year I am going to focus on my hobby, via my stomach...

What is everyone else here looking forward to? I can't wait for this durn snow to melt!

I am leaving for Florida on Thursday.

It is my one and only wish that my hens survive my vacation. Sons and hubby have been warned - You will all need to find a new place to live if just one of my girls comes to harm.

I've done the cooking thing. I'm finally planting a garden now that I've been here in the Bay Area long enough to kinda sorta recognize the seasons. I'm hoping to plant enough to provide some food for our table. I'm really getting into canning this year. Canned homemade stocks (chicken and beef) and homemade marmalade. Bought a half hog and will be rendering leaf lard and making my own guanciale. Also bought a pasta add-on for my Kitchenaid and started making homemade pasta. So yeah. Looking forward to more DIY food this year.

Heh, I decided to expand my garden this year as well, and add some more "stuff". Finally sent my seed order in - somehow, it magically jumped from $80 to $300! Oops! Heh!

The owie to the bank account came from ordering grapes, cherry trees, and blueberry bushes. I can't wait

I am looking forward to the warmth. I want to grow things.

I am also looking forward to a break in illness.Everyone has been sick and resick the past 2 weeks. Nothing like shoveling the drive when you have a raging fever.

I miss sitting in my summer lawn swing among the flowers watching the chickens peck and the kids swim.

We hit the bank account for those last year. I know one thing I am NEVER ordering trees or bushes from Burges again! Every single pland died within 3 months. I still need to get my refund before the waranty runs out. I will order from Trees of Antiquity again. Their trees and bushes were 3-5' tall and are doing very well. The other stock was only about 12".

I am looking forward to being able to ride my horse!! She has a little more work and then I start riding!!

I can't wait to get my hands in the dirt! Love getting the garden ready. This year though I plan to spend some time on my flower gardens, I didn't spend much time on them last year and they suffered a bit.

I make a yearly spring trip to a green house with my sisters, thats always fun.

I also want to get some fruit trees planted.

And some pines planted down near the corner of my property where the neighbor cut the branches off the huge oak tree that blocked our view of their yard. The house has since been vacated and is in forclosure. I'd love to get the property.. so we'll see if that gets added to the list!

Also plan to make a goose run, so we can keep the girls away from the house. They love the large cement pad out back by the dog kennels...... they love to POOP all over it. We have to constantly wash it off. So the girls are getting their own fenced yard.

Paying off some bills, planning a garage addition, need a 2nd car so add that to the list, making up my mind on if and what chickens to add, spring to come and mr sun to shine on my parade! That about covers it.

That was one thing I checked before ordering - warranty and size etc. Some of it I don't understand, but they say they send 1/2"-3/4 caliper, 4-5ft tall, slightly branched or unbranched whips. The blueberries say they are 3 y/o plants. They say the grape plants are large and well rooted, and with stuff I've gotten before (plants), I'm pretty confident

They also will refund or replace if no growth by summer, and half credit if it dies by the next spring. I'm really excited!
