What are you adding to your flock this year?

What I am adding will hopefully improve some breeds I already have. I want breeder quality SLW as I have grown to love them, hatch out as many BLRW since I have good stock in that color. Kids want a buff Cochin to show so I am looking for a couple of them and then buff and black silkies. Otherwise I want to work on what I have at home (hatch our own).

i am looking for eggs and meat but mostly eggs. it doesnt matter if they are white, brown, green, blue eggs, but i do think i would like an assortment of colored eggs. my husband wants as he calls pretty chickens, i keep telling him that they are roosters.

I wouldn't trade my brahmas for all the money in the world. Such sweet gentle giants. My brahma girls are nearly four years old, but sadly we were forced to put my brahma roo down when he developed a leg issue last spring. I will be replacing him this spring. Even though I have/had other roosters, none of them quite measure up to the brahma roo for taking good care of the hens and being a gentleman with humans.

Oh, they're darling. I bought Mille Fluer bantam cochin eggs from BYC member, Fattie. If you're going to hatch eggs, she's a great seller....Her adult birds are beautiful. I bought splash as well. She sent me a dozen, plus 4 extras, and they were perfectly packaged. I ended up with 9 chicks....3 millie fluer, 1 mysterious color that is gorgous but I don't know what to call it, and 5 splashes.

That is who we bought our 2 from at the MD. Poultry Fanciers Show in Nov. Hope to get a few more from her this spring. We are not looking for "show quality" as we are not breeding, yet. But the DW wants to at some point in the future.

what color of the brahmas do you have??? I am on the lookout for Dark Brahmas... I have 6 plus coming this monday from hot2pot!!

Just added 6 quail right before the 1st of the year, getting 6 EE eggs in the incubator(going to be my first time hatching, i am new to chickens as of last summer) probably this sat or sun(hopefully)

not sure what all I will add more though, depends on where we move to in a few months. And depends on how many of the 6 eggs hatch for me, I am really only wanting to keep 1 maybe 2 from this hatch, but I hope for 100% hatch rate, so I will just see what the birds look like and hope that I end up keeping pullets. If I end up moving to a place with enough land and the accommodations, I could see a pig, turkey, 2 ducks, goat, cow, donkey, or horse in my near future lol possibly even a baby human lol

I'm hoping to add another 2 muscovy ducks, another two white turkeys and 4 or so barnevelder hens this year

I have lights, buffs and darks. All my brahmas came from Ideal. My lights and buffs are about what you would expect for HQ, but my darks are really spectacular. I've been told by more than one poultry judge that the majority of my darks are SQ. I know for sure that Thor was SQ.
