What are you adding to your flock this year?

what color of the brahmas do you have??? I am on the lookout for Dark Brahmas... I have 6 plus coming this monday from hot2pot!!

I have lights, buffs and darks. All my brahmas came from Ideal. My lights and buffs are about what you would expect for HQ, but my darks are really spectacular. I've been told by more than one poultry judge that the majority of my darks are SQ. I know for sure that Thor was SQ.

Your Roo, Thor was just gorgeous. Again sorry for your loss he looks like he was quite a fella. He is one of the reasons i am looking at possibly adding some Brahmas. i just love the colors and the build of this bird.

I've been trying to arrange a springtime chick order around the vacation DH and I will take in the spring/early summer. Ideal won't have brahmas as late in the summer as I'd like, but since I do plan to order another dark brahma roo, I don't want to deal with any other hatchery besides Ideal. They have the best dark brahmas of any hatchery I have seen. By talking to some folks and doing research I've come to the conclusion that whoever it is that is providing Ideal with their dark brahma eggs is also working to improve their line.

In addition, I never had a predator problem while Thor was alive. This year without Thor I've lost alot hens to predators. He was such a good roo!

I think Meyer Hatchery stole my question. Their question on FB today is "What breed(s) do you just HAVE to add to your flock this year?" lol

I'm hoping to add some Golden Cuckoo Marans, and Blue Wheaten Marans. I would also like some EE pullets, all the EE's I hatched last year were roos. I would also like some Blue Rocks.
