Happy Birthday!!!

Congratulations!!! That sounds like a wonderful reward for reaching your goal!
I'm a lousy dieter so I just step up my exercise when I need to lose a few pounds. DH and I just started dancing again. That burns calories really well.
I do try to keep the treats to small portions though so I give away a lot of what I bake cause I can't seem to stop baking! I decided to wait on the eclairs though since I have 8 people coming for Saint Patricks day dinner tomorrow and I need to concentrate on getting the house and dinner ready.

As much as I love to bake I hate to clean but I better quit procrastinating and get to it.

BTW that sandwich looks YUUUMMY!

We dance too....shag...but have been sporatic since we moved 3 yrs ago. We're looking for intermediate classes in our area....so that we'll dance more, and regulary. In the meantime, most of my calorie burning is in the garden.

Oh! I love shag! My DH and I met in a street swing class that featured shag, lindy, east coast and variations of those. We had so much fun in that class! The high energy stuff is a little tough on me these days but every once in a while we let loose at the senior dance (much to the shock/delight of the other seniors). We both love to dance and it is great exercise!
Gardening's not too bad either but it is much harder on my back. That's what I spent the morning doing. Ouch! I hurt now.

Oh my Gosh!! It's ALIVE -

Remember the other day when I said that I had visions of my sourdough started boiling over in the hot water heater closet. Guess what!! it did. I went right home last night and made a new batch of starter, using water and 1/2Tbs yeast. This time a used a small seal-able jar (the kind with a rubber seal and metal band) and it was a bit full but since the old one didn't bubble that much I though I was OK - NOT
barnie.gif
Put it in the hot water heater closet and on the way to bed at 10:00pm remembered that I needed to check it - it was everywhere.

All down the side of the hot water heater - puddled under the jar and in the overflow pan below. What a mess - felt like I was I cleaning up a mess after a small child that had been sick.

After I got it all cleaned up went out and made another batch this time using a measuring cup that holds 4 cups and left it in the sink. Bubbled up nice overnight and had separated a bit on the bottom. Smelled a lot better than the old one, it was really gross and almost made me sick when I threw it out.

Oh! the life of learning new things - won't have it any other way through. Have our Corned Beef in the Crock Pot and looking forward to good smelling house when I get home.

Happy St. Patty's Day to everyone. May be I should make some Irish Soda Bread! Since it doesn't need a starter

Sandee,

Your posts always make smile or out right laugh. Glad your second attempt at starter turned out better than the first.

Happy Saint Paddy's day to you, and everyone else, too.

Makes me glad I haven't tried the starter thing yet. I know, I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I will wait for warmer weather though. Bread doesn't rise well in my house during cold weather so I'm waitin' for heat!
Have my cabbage soup on the cook top (actually started it last night) and the Corned beef brisket has already been on a slow simmer for hours and it is now ready to go in the oven for a few hours on low heat before it gets it's glaze and goes in for another 40 minutes of cooking. Hope it turns out! I have 8 people coming for dinner and this is a new recipe. (I know you're never supposed to try a new recipe when company's coming but I couldn't resist).

HAPPY ST. PATTY"S DAY EVERYONE!!!
