What are you baking now?

Thank you for this recipe!!! Oatmeal raisin cookies are my favorite but DH loves chocolate so I will just divide and do half and half. Do I dare bake when it's over 100 out? At least cookies don't take long to bake.

I think I just talked myself into it.

I hate raisins so I don't eat them, but if I dig deep enough I have a recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies that my family absolutely loves...if I can find it, I'll post it.

Found it already.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

3/4 C all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¾ stick (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vanilla, divided
3 cups uncooked quick or old-fashioned oats
1 cup raisins
½ cup powder sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Preheat oven to 375. Grease cookie sheets; set aside.

Combine flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon in small bowl.

Beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy.

Add egg, water and 2 teaspoons vanilla; beat well.

Add flour mixture; beat at low speed just until blended.

Stir in oats with spoon. Stir in raisins.

Drop tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets.

Bake 10 - 11 minutes. Let cookies stand 2 minutes on cookie sheets; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

For glaze - stir powdered sugar, milk and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla in small bowl until smooth. Drizzle over cookies with fork or spoon store collies tightly covered at room temperature or freeze up to 3 months.

My favorite Aunt came to visit this weekend and she loves Olive bread - so made a loaf from my new book and we ate the whole thing at dinner. We had Hamburgers for dinner before they left last night and made homemade buns in the afternoon and what a treat they were still warm at dinner time. Can't get any fresher then that.

Yes, it has been 100+ and still making bread. I don't know why but our oven just doesn't seem to transfer a lot of extra heat into the kitchen. So we are really lucky in the baking department.

All these wonderful cookies recipes here make me want to be home baking some now!

Forgot to tell everyone - Made my first Dutch Baby (German Pancake) and it was delicious. Also, a good way to use up all the small eggs that we have right now from our new hens. I just increased the eggs with small ones until it looked like is was about 6 large eggs worth. My husband told me about 3 times how much he liked it. But then again he is a crepe man - his Dad used to make them for him when he was a kid so that is his favorite and now the next favorite is the Dutch Baby.

Mmmmm, I love custard too! Especially creme brulee!

Sandee, I love crepes too! I make them often since my family loves them so much. I've never tried German pancakes. Can we get the recipe?
