What are you baking now?

I'm really tempted to make just the cookie dough part to eat with a spoon.

I actually have 2 different cookie dough recipes that don't have eggs so they're "safe" to eat....I quite like them.

I don't have chickens yet...just joined up a couple years ago to do a lot of research on chickens so I can be prepared when I get to move out of town.

Maybe you could find another BYC'er in your area that has organic raised chickens that could sell you some eggs for baking?

A friend of mine..not a BYCer...has chickens and he's supposed to bring me eggs, but he never remembers. I guess it doesn't help that my husband always forgets to get them from him.

The only chickens I'm convinced I want is Barred Rocks...other than that I'm not too picky.

That will probably be a good angel food cake...let me know how it is if you make it.

I have a few BR x hens. I think you should get a couple of Golden Buff hens..I have one and she lays HUGE (when I say HUGE I don't just mean x-large...her eggs are about twice the size of my other eggs) eggs! She is 2.2 y/o and her eggs are still huge. Ducks eggs are supposed to be really good for baking. I don't have ducks myself, but would like to get some, somtime.

It will probably be quite a while still until I can get any chickens...maybe I'll just get a couple of each breed. I live in the middle of nowhere, I should be able to buy a house with that kind of space.

I've never had duck eggs.....sadly, I've never had any chicken eggs other than what comes from the store. Most people around here don't sell the eggs they get from their birds, they use them all.

When I first moved to our big ranch we brought about a dozen Black Aussies, pair of Buff Orps, some Domiques, a few Brown Leghorns, and a pair of Silver Spangled Hamburgs. Slowly but surely we lost them all to preditors, but then I ordered 100 bantams...and the story goes on!

Just made two Angel Food cakes...they didn't turn out quite the way I'd hoped..but they're "cakes" none the less!
