What are you doing for Earth Day/ Arbor Day?

I'd say planting a tree, but I'd already planted 5 more (2 cherry, 2 pear, 1 almond) earlier last month. So.......... I'll be working on the chicken coop and garden.. Need to get someone in to till it ASAP.

I'm also bugging people I know to buy a tee so they can plant a tree

It's a sale going on at Zazzle right now for each tee you buy they plant a tree but apparently nobody wants to plant a tree since I haven't sold any tees. Oh well. I guess as long as they recycle and since there is a 5 cent deposit on cans I think everyone in the whole state of IA recycles to get their deposits back.

Nothing. I don't set aside days for that type stuff. And, yes, I still use paper towels. How on earth do you clean a greasy cloth napkin? They end up stained and nasty and are never the same again. We have cleared out lots of oak trees for various reasons, however, we've planted lots of fruit trees over the years as well. I don't use poisons (except termite spray around the house foundation) or fertilizers except chicken manure or bug sprays on the fruit trees. This is an everyday thing, not a once a year thing.

I understand that some people have concerns with this, I think everyone should adopt a greener lifestyle throughout the year. However, I was wondering if anyone was do anything above and beyond that, like cleaning up roadways, planting a special tree or finding other ways to help beautify their homes or communities.

I will be working on Earth Day. However, last weekend, in honor of Earth Day, the John Muir Homestead historic site here in town hosted its own version. DSO and I went. There were many booths from the local parks and wildlife organizations, as well as booths to give you ideas about things you could do at home. It was also fascinating to tour John Muir's house and gardens.

I'm going to start by ripping helpless plants out of the ground, listening to their screams and pleading for mercy. I will listen, but respond with total malice. They might be NATURE but they are nature I do not like! Weeds, all of them!!

Then, after I've uprooted them and destroyed them and their seed forever, I'm going to put things in their place that I approve of.

The end.
