what are you knitting now?

I'm on a crochet kick at the moment. I wanted some quick projects and crochet works up so much faster than knitting, so I've made a couple market bags, a couple deep purses, a shawl and a few washcloths (to use up the last of the cotton yarn).

I'm back to spinning now, make yarn to knit up into a pair of socks for DH

I saw the hat, love love it. Im new to knitting, is it difficult to follow. I'd like to start now and get done before winter starts. It will be her before we know it.

It is not difficult to follow at all! You just need to know the basics. Casting on, knit, purl, decrease (for the hat) and binding off.

In fact, I did the main part of the hat while watching TV last night. All I need to do is the back seam and the ties.
I made this hat

last winter. They were sure nice going out in the snow and freezing temps to care for my birds. The only thing was that my geese and ducks didn't recognize me and had cows.

Just finished (in the last half hour or so) a small 16" x 16" basket weave baby blanket for a charity program that provides blankets for babies mis-carried, still-born, or early infant deaths. It sort of hits close to home for me. I'm just sitting here now contemplating doing another.

How awesome!

I saw a baby wrapped in a basketweave knitted blanket in a movie and am wanting to make one.

The basket weave pattern is incredibly simple, it's just alternating knit & purl stitches. The only trick is keeping count of how many rows before switching to the next row of weave pattern.

I got mine started. I am using stitch markers to remind myself when to switch stitches. I tend to get caught up in whatever TV show I am watching, so I need the help.
