What are you planting in your Garden

Our garden is already going...
onions
cabbage
tomatoes
radishes
carrots
strawberries
romaine lettuce
brocolli
cilantro
oregano

and I have bell peppers and jalapenos in a flower bed next to the chicken coop.

This is my first year with a garden so I'm still learning!

today's reminder... because of our holiday feasting... I do NOT grow enough thyme... must plant MORE thyme and dill this year!

Slowly but surely, my DH and I are realizing our dream to become "urban farmers"! LOL! We'd love to live out in the country, but our kids are still in school and heck, with everything we have done/are planning to do and can do here, we may decide to stay here!

This year, as "urban farmers" I am going to be raising 2 batches of meat birds PLUS I've already ordered 3 turkeys for our holiday season. Hopefully that will go well, since I never did that before!

As far as gardening, this year we are branching out to fruit:

Cherries - 1 variety
Blueberries - 2 varieties
Raspberries - 2 red varieties and one yellow
Blackberries - 2 varieties
Grapes - 3 varieties (can't wait to build my grape arbor with my chicken/turkey run underneath!!!

)
Peaches
Apples - 2 varieties
Garlic - 2 varieties
Asparagus
Lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, etc.
Pumpkin
I will be putting in an herb patch, varieties yet unknown. Of course there will be basil!

I am sooo excited about this. I just wish it was warm enough to go work outside. It sounds like we all will have a busy growing season!

Ha ha! We don't have much land at all - we have the lot that our home is on and we own the lot next to it, which we use as our yard. I'm guessing maybe we live on approximately 1/8 of an acre. The kids don't use the yard to play on much anymore, so now it's mine - muah ha ha!!! BUT, I can lay it out to plant what I want to and still be OK. I am greatly expanding my chicken run as soon as it gets warm. I guess I just like pushing the limits of what I can do on a small amount of land. I feel blessed to have what I have, though!

I would gladly let someone plant a garden here if they would share a little with me. I have a big area for planting and I even have plenty of weed fabric.

We bought a great big roll of it from Sam's club, it's pretty good stuff too and it was a great price.
