Read any good books lately? I just finished Beth Moore's Further Still, in the process of reading Girls With Swords by Lisa Bevere and just started The Giver by Lois Lowry.

Two of my all time favs are Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and Havah by Tosca Lee

I have spent this summer so far re reading some books I had, like my favorite The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, The Covenant by Michener (1200 pages covering the birth of Africa). And Testament by John Grisham.

I haven't read any of those. May need to put those on my list.

I'm reading the latest Dan Brown novel. I like it so far, would definitely recommend it to anyone who has read his other books featuring Robert Langdon.

I liked the Poisonwood Bible a lot.

I finally read Gone Girl, that was one freaky read!

I'm re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse books in order, just finished number 2.

Reading one called Bet the Farm, about how messed up our food supply has become.

Reading Chicken Tractors to get inspiration blending my birds and my garden.

What is Sookie Stackhouse? What do you like about it?

I had gotten addicted to the Spenser series. I like detective, investigator, lawyer stuff.

The Sookie books are also called the Southern Vampire series, and were the inspiration for the HBO series True Blood. They're about a telepathic barmaid in northern Louisiana who gets involved with a vampire. She likes him because she can't hear his thoughts. I like Charlaine Harris' writing overall, and I love that her character is very real and down-to-earth, at least at first. I can't really relate to being a blonde, beautiful, uneducated telepathic barmaid, but I can really relate to being broke, worrying about affording a new load of gravel for the driveway, being stressed by going through an airport for the first time, things like that. It's a cute mystery/fantasy series with some sex, but not near as much as the HBO series, from what I understand. Charlaine Harris also wrote some cozy mysteries, characters Lily Bard or Baird in the Shakespeare series, and Aurora Teagarden. She came up with another great character Harper Connelly in the Grave series. Harper is a young woman who was struck by lightening and now has the ability to sense the dead. Great premise, and a very realistic character dealing with some weird issues.

You can tell I like Charlaine Harris

this Chicken Tractor book is giving me some stuff to think over to maybe re-vamp the garden area next year. I may spend the winter breaking up pallets to make tractors

I guess some of her later Sookie books weren't so great, but I haven't read that far yet. Sometimes a series just goes on too long and the author doesn't wrap things up soon enough.
