A busy day...finally home. Take a biwl of watermellon out for the chickens grin while the jockey for the first beakfulls. Once the fruit starts to disapear they are quietly cooing...bliss. They gradually separate for adventures and food. two rir sisters camp under the large lemon grass and watch the rest. the most adventurous youngster has managed to climb/fly on top of the snail plant about four feet high and is searching for snails whom thought they were beyond reach. I am impressed. been training the plant for about seven years; and sinch the flock arrived, it looks fantastic.

I am standing, looking around... I know they've grown a lot...but it is as if the last few weeks they've gone from that fun silly geeky stage to incredibly beautiful creatures of grace. Different breeds, some from the same parents, but I swear I can tell them apart. Their feathers are like the best of intricate stained art. The colors around their heads change like the Grand Canyon when the sun rises. The metalics shimmer enough to make the hummingbirds jealous, and I find myself wondering if the finest stones set in silver for Kings and Queens. Viewing the flock, I am reminded of my grandma's quilt, different textures and colors. But like the quilt, I close my eyes, and these thoughts wrap around and comfort me...
