Im super ready we even set up the coop... (yeah we know they wont be in it for awhile) but we couldnt help it.. lol im just so ready to turn on the light in the brooder tonight! thats like the feeling of turning on the christmas lights on the tree... lol sad isnt it?You sound readyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!! My husband and his best friend keep trying to talk me into putting the chicks in the garage.. im like no... i want them around the noise... and i want to be able to peek in on them every few minutes lol.... we have a huge unfinished shed in the back yard 14x20... I may want to fix it up for the girls im not sure yet.. we bought a pre-fab one just cause right now we are tight on money and its gonna cost a bit to fix up that shed...Girl. I GET IT! Before we were gonna build our coop out by our small barn but then....I just did not feel good with how small it was going to be...so after lots of eye batting at my husband... I was able to get him to give up his large shed he just uses to store extra tools (the man has a huge shop for all that stuff anyways.... not like it will hurt him....And after I drew it up what i wanted he saw it and totally agreed that it would be SO much better!So ! That is going to be our weekend projects the next 4/6wks before we can move them in! Oh and girl! I get the light! hahaahah I was so happy to turn mine on and see the red glow! hahaha I kept going into the garage just to stare at it all!
That is a VERY good idea!! Check them over and look at their bums and stomachs! To be sure there is no vent problems or yolk, ect! Im happy the hatchery were great about crediting me for the chicks we have lost so far. In the next 48 hours if we lose any others, we will get credited for them too. But I mean that means they would have to be shipped again, blah blah! So! VERY good idea to give those chicks a look over! And Im SO sorry for the lose of your fur baby!
Mine are in an attached garage! So right outside of the kitchen. They can hear my kids yelling and jumping and pans banging! LOL I get ya wanting them to hear! Totally do!! hahaha The biggest reason I wanted the shed it has cement floors. So it will be easier for me to clean out and I think it would be easier and cheaper to set it up with windows and vents. My BIGGEST thing is its closer to the house. If any wild animals bothered them, I would hear it and could reach them faster. oy vey. Dont even want to think about that! LMBO!
I keep thinking about that... with the prefab coop im a little scared.. but i guess you wont ever know until something happens.. then u will know what to do..
