My neighbor and I went in together and ordered 10 buff orpingtons, 4 partridge rocks, 2 speckled sussex all pullets. Then 15 straight run bantam clean legged assortment. Of the 18 bantam we received we lost 14 to shipping stress. I was very upset! McMurray Hatchery sent us 16 more bantam and a supplement to put in the water. 1 was dead on arrival. 2 more have died since. I am very frustrated. I am currently holding one who is struggling and feeding it yogurt every 15 minutes. i would welcome any suggestions! They have a red light bulb that is 250 watts they have sugar electrolyte water they have chick feed i dipped each beak in water and watched it drink. They are still just flopping over and dying! I have no idea why. The only ones dying are the bantam. I have not lost a single full size baby. This is my first time with bantams and with having chicks shipped. Always before I have just picked out chicks at the feed store. And always full sized babies. I am at a loss here!

I am not familiar with how so many chicks are shipped at once. Perhaps they are not shipped on the day they hatch and are dehydrated and starving by the time they arrive at your destination. Just a thought. I ordered 4 full size and 4 bantams from another supplier and they all arrived safely and are doing quite well with the exception of 1 who began having trouble pooping (not pasty butt) at 2 weeks old and it has continued no matter what we have tried. She still thrives well, eats and drinks like the others, just has trouble 'getting it out' when she poops.

I would be devastated if I lost any so I can only imagine what you are going through. So sorry.
 
My 4 SLW's and $ Australorps arrived this morning, and everyone ate and drank right away without any issues. They are so cute just peeping softly doing chicken stuff. I've done sat in there most of the day just watching them....pics will come soon!

Thanks I've been so excited and nervous up til i got them home and saw everyone was ok! they already have me wrapped around their little wings....my boyfriend who was only interested in the fresh eggs has even warmed up to them immensely. The math is already calculating in my brain....lol I'm already wanting to get some easter eggers and maybe something else. The Blue Favaucana definitely has my eye but at 20 bucks a chick I may have to wait til my birthday....lol If I truly had my way I would have a least one mille fleur d'Uccle they are so striking.
