WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

I lost one of mine last week, at about a week old. It hadn't been growing like the others and I came home from work and found it dead. it was one of the white wyandottes. All the others are doing just fine. Tell ya what, I ordered 7 hens and one rooster each from 4 breeds, and I have NO IDEA what I have

I have 3 or 4 that don't even look like the others and only one of the breeds look generically alike at all! I thought I knew which one was the mystery chick, but now I'm not even sure about that... Anyway... it's fun!

Those are some nice looking birds Pattye! Once they start scratching, that grass won't look so good though

Happy for you

seems like forever at this point, right? I hope you have something bigger available as 20 chicks will double in size in the first week and at that point, those boxes will be way too small. They MIGHT last you a week. You could go to your local grocer (Walmart works well) and ask if they have a large empty box like the ones they have on pallets, full of watermelons and the like. You'll just need a piece of (heavy) cardboard to put under it and you'll be good to go for ~ 5-6 weeks w/20 chicks. Of course by week 3 they'll be trying their wings out and you'll need to put some kind of screen over it by the time 4 weeks comes, to keep them from flying out

Good luck!

i agree ..i use the mellon boxes ..and even they get to be to small pretty quick as well .lol..i have taped 2 together and that works ...but with 20 birds it wont take ,long for them to out grow either.

I think I have lost my mind! I must be obsessed! I just ordered 4 more chicks. 2 Black Jersey Giants and 2 Blue Favaucana. My coop only holds 8 and I have 10 in it. Mine are 7 weeks tomorrow, Will the new ones be integrated without a problem? Now I have to get another coop or expand the one that I have. The Jersey Giants are going in the Garden. I may put the Favaucanas in there too although I would love to put the Favaucanas in with my others.

Just recieved 20 americanas, 5 Brahamas, and 2 special chicks from Murray McMurray hatchery. I got two phone notices that they were coming and my PO called this morning at 7:30 am all are happy and healthy.
the 5 brahamas are going to my daughter and I am refreshing my american flock with the 20 chicks. I can't wait to see what the special chicks are, one looks like a 'top hat' I'm hoping it's a silver polish, but we'll see.
Next year I will refresh my Silkie flock. I have been buying from MM off and on for the last 30 years and my parents also bought from them with nary a problem that wasn't fixed quickly.
