What are your five favorite breeds and why

I love watching my bantam cochins run too. They put their heads down and run in those slipper feet in a shuffling hoppy way.

Yes! The Mottleds do this a lot! They also get super excited and go flying like a bunch of fat, fluffy hummingbirds out of the chicken yard for free-range time. :gig Then there's Rowena, here. Wait for it...

Lap chickens, :sick , they leave behind surprises. :lau

Naw, my angels would never do such a thing. :love Actually, I've found I get much more of those surprises when my lap birds have it on their feet. My Orpington is notorious for not waiting for permission to get in my lap and, well, sometimes she tracks a little bit of a surprise all over. :sick Does she look ashamed?

I have just 3 breeds as I'm new to the chicken world. But, in order of favor they are:
1-Buff Orpington - she is friendly, calm & quiet; is first up on my lap when I sit down.
2-Dominique-best egg layer so far and relentless forager; but the noisiest most forward.
3-Blue laced red Wyandotte-I have 2 girls and their personalities are very different. One is outgoing and friendly and the other is more skittish and the last at everything, including egg laying. From my on-line research I discovered their coloring is more properly "splash" designation. Very beautiful birds and so sweet! I now completely understand "chicken math"! I would love to have Speckled Sussex, Marans and Barnevelders someday and probably allot more I have yet to discover. :)

I have personally never had a Dominique, but the Wyandotte and Orpingtons are on my favorite list. :thumbsup There's always another breed or mix to try. It keeps it all interesting.

My five favorite
1) Salmon Favorellas- sweet loving puff balls.
2) Black Jersey Giants-they are always excited to see me and love to snuggle in my lap
3)Silkies-Great mom's, kind, sweet
4)Polish-Funny goof balls.
5) Cochrins-Giant puffballs, loving and oh so sweet.
You like a fluffy flock. :) So do I.

Here's my list:

1) Cochin standard - kinda aloof, and they walk like they are wearing SCUBA flippers - hilarious!
2) Brahma - big, quiet, fluffy, docile. The Newfoundland of chickens!
3) Barred Rock - smart, curious, friendly. And they look like feathered zebras. Bonus.
4) Opringtons - silly fluffy butts, goofy personality.

Lol! I only have 4 faves because I only have 4 chooks - the only ones I've ever had!
