What are your five favorite breeds and why

Hard to whittle down to 5! I trend toward big, round chickens.

1..Brahma...cause they are big and fluffy and look kinda grouchy in the face.
2..Cochin...Big and sweet, great mothers and they feel so soft.
3..EE's...Cause, like everyone else, they are a surprise!
4..Orpingtons...I find them to be docile, and come in such pretty colors.
5..Leghorn...something about those big floppy combs just gets me. And their laying ability is amazing.

1 would be Polish, Mostly because they remind too much of myself, Clumsy, anxious, pretty much blind, jumpy, and, well.. polish :D And I of course love the classic Afros on top of their heads ;)

2 Old English game, Love the wide variety of this breed. My favorite would have to be the standard crele. Love their personalities as well, Almost reminds me of jungle fowl.

3 Brahmas, love this large fowl breed. Their personalities are so friendly, I have a couple of light brahmas that would greet me every morning with a hug, Always wanting to be pet.. Trying to get my hands on some lemon Pyles! :caf

4 Seramas, They're just so fun to have. They come in so many colors and they're super easy to take care of. Plus, Who doesn't love mini fried eggs in the morning?

5 Sizzle, Honestly, They are the softest things I've ever laid my hands on. I've got 2 breeding pairs that I love~! They're just as friendly as brahmas, And they look hilarious too..

You like fun and funky, cool choices. :p

1.Orpingtons- fuzzy butts, beautiful, great mothers and actually dual purpose birds
2. EE, OE, etc- colored eggs, beards, muffs really unique birds gotta love 'em
3. Black Copper Morans - those dark eggs & beautiful birds with great personalities
4. American Dominique , original good foragers, nice to look at good birds for the flock
5. Black Stars- change from the Heritage breeds, very pretty birds, great layers of large brown eggs, hardy, dependable and seem to be better "behaved" than some of the red sex links we've had over the years

I don't have enough experience with all the breeds. Someday I would love to try seramas, ameraucanas, bantam cochins barnevelders, etc.
My favorites as of now would be 1. d'Uccle 2. EE 3. Silkies
The fun is still ahead of you trying out all those breeds. You just never know which will appeal to you until you keep a few. Silkies and d'uccle make an adorable flock.

My five:

1. Salmon Faverolles -- they are beautiful, docile and enchantingly goofy. Plus, they are continuing to lay after all the other ladies have begun their winter vacation.

2. Buff Orpington -- A wonderful big, fluffy pile of feathers. Mine protects her Fav "sisters" when others pick on them.

3. Rhode Island Red -- wonderful eggs and great temperament.

4. Blue-laced Red Wyandotte -- Calm, lovely and regal.

5. Cochin -- mine are bantams and are the clowns of the farm.
