What ate this egg?

Hi! Today I found an egg in the nest box that had been eaten. I don’t know whether it was one of my hens or one of the mice infesting the coop or what. This has never happened before to my knowledge. Either way I need to fix it because we are getting so few eggs as it is.

It looks pretty cleaned up, so I don't think it was a chicken.

Possum maybe? I'd say rat but they usually drag the eggs away to eat or stash.

I agree it wasn't a chicken but other than that I'm no help. Usually when my chickens do something naughty like that there isnt much left but some egg shell crumbs and a yolk puddle

Hmm. The coop is pretty predator-proof, so I don’t think it was a possum. I don’t know if we have them anyway. I hope it’s not a rat, we want to put chicks in that coop later this year.
