Hello everyone
Hope your all ok ☺️
The other day I came home and noticed my drake wasn't himself after checking him a found a large wound in the middle of his breast and small puncture wounds on thigh there was quite abit of feather loss as well
He lives with his wife and two chickens they all get along wonderfully
Whatever attacked him tho only attacked him it didn't touch the others I just wanted to know if it was a cat or something because surely a fox would have killed the whole lot
I live in England and were we live foxes badgers and weasels are very rare there's not many fields or anything were we live
And also I've been bathing it but does it need stitches it hasn't been bleeding but I can't tell how deep it is
Many thanks

Tanith

I'm so sorry to hear about your bird. If it's not bleeding it's better to leave it open and allow it to heal from the inside out. Whatever it was I would guess he fought it off, and protected the rest of the flock. Keep cleaning it and as long as it doesn't get infected he should heal. Is he still eating and drinking well.

Thankyou for replying
It's ok he's doing really well he's eating and drinking like normal he's a little quiet but other then that he's fine I was thinking maybe it was a seagull we get lots of them where we are and one keeps going into the coop
Thankyou for the advice I've been using tcp and putting savlon cream on it

Good. That should do the trick. He should be back to his old self in no time. It's possible the full has been going after the eggs and he caught it, or hawks will also attack chickens. I would definitely guess a smaller predator, or their would have been more damage. I'm glad he's doing well.
