What automatic stuff and electronic stuff do you have inside your coop? Here's what I have in mine..

Quote: How does this stuff work? I am so confused. How do you hook everything up in your coop? What is a raspberry pi? I searched it on google but I don't really understand how everything works.

My indoor and outdoor webcams are cheap 'wanview'. I cannot recommend them. I guess they are OK for the price.

Raspberry pi is a credit card size linux computer. You need some IT and electronics backgroud to do this.

Thanks, I had already watched your video. I'm leaning more towards a system that doesn't have proprietary parts so that I can have more options as far as design and parts that are compatible, and also hopefully will be cheaper. I realize the stuff you used is probably a lot simpler to install and less work, but I like a challenge.

Holy Cow!
The James Bond of the Poultry Business. More electronics than the CIA in that coop.

But, I kind of like all that stuff. You have your own, "chicken channel" to watch

If you wish to use radio controlled home automation sensors and actuactors in your design, you should check out the busware extension for the raspberry pi.

I use ot in my house with a number pf fs-20 devices but it works with many other home automation systems.

I am interested in knowing more about your WiFi temp. gauge. I am trying to find a way to monitor the temp from a remote location. I bought a wireless weather station but the building my coop is in is made of steal. I can't seem to get a connection and I assume that is because of the steal. I have a smart phone and was trying to find a device that would work with my android phone. I am guessing the steal building could still cause interference but I am not sure on this. Any advice/knowledge would be much appreciated.

When it comes to technology; I am still amazed with the flush toilet.
