I live in the pacific north west, Washington state where it likes to rain alot , I have been reading about sand coop floors. But, I dont think that would work for us, because of the constant wet weather
does anyone have any sugestions? We are in the process of building our coop, I want to keep the smell down because I'm in city limits...

Deep litter for sure - done right it allows for great drainage and we have no shortage of trees for wood chips and leaves, grass and weeds, etc. all the items you need for litter, for free. My run isn't covered but even though I have little puddles everywhere with the rain today, the run isn't boggy or mucky.

The sand does need to be dry to work well. However, there are people that do well with sand in their coops in the PNW. Here is one:

It works best if you are a person that likes to do a little bit of work each day rather than a lot of work every once in a while.

However I can't see it in a run. Even if covered, the slightest breeze would wet the sand at the sides of the run making it difficult to clean.
