I got 5 chicks from my local hardware store. They’re from Hoover’s. They are 7 weeks old now.

This one was sold to me as an Americana, but I’m thinking it’s a Brown Leghorn and ...also a cockerel.

This one was sold to me as a Calico Princess, but I’m pretty sure it’s an Easter Egger.

This one was sold to me as a Buff Orpington, but it’s looking like a New Hampshire Red or maybe a Production Red?

Anyone want to weigh in? I am *never* buying chicks from a store again.

I think the comments are correct and that EE sure is a cutey

Is that skin or feathers? :)
Ah, got it. What says “cockerel” to you? Just the size of the comb and wattles at 7 weeks? Welsummer hens look to have fairly big combs and upright tail feathers. Would you recommend waiting a little longer before rehoming him?

I was asking what appeared to be white, earlobes or surrounding feathers. This can help determine the breed :) It's definitely a cockerel, there is absolutely no reason to wait! Besides having a very large comb, he also was a black breast. Females of either breed would never develop this.

The white is feathers, not skin.
