I have an HP computer, an IBM laptop and an Acer laptop.

The acer doesn't get much action - but its neat, I bought it for the really big monitor - other than that, my kids play games on it now and then.

I will NEVER buy a Dell computer again.

I purchased one about a couple years ago. within the first month, the screen went, and they replaced it. Then last year I think, or the year before, they were required by the court to extend peoples warrenties (spelling) for 1 year because they had batteries that were over heating and some other problems.

Well, I sent the computer back to them, thinking they would replace the defective battery and motherboard, and all they did was put new feet on the laptop. What a waste of money!!!!!
Plus, when I called to talk to a customer service rep, I was on hold for about 2 hours before I got to talk to somebody, and they were so foreign, I couldnt understand one thing I said.

I would go with a HP or a Gateway! I have a HP destop and a new Gateway pc that I got for a little bit over $1,000 when it was on sale. And I have had no problems. I love HP and Gateway.

Please dont buy a Dell. A friend of mine bought his son a Dell laptop for Christmas last year, and the next day they had to return it because the screen went. So they got another computer.

My first brand new computer was an Acer, that thing gave me great service for 10 years, still worked fine when I upgraded to a more up to date computer.

I'm running an E-machine now with modifications, it works well.

I absolutely hate compaqs from my own personal experience, I'll never own another one.

I had a Dell that started having problems, and their customer support is the pitts.

also have 3 Toshiba Lap Tops with 15" screens oldest is 6 years and still runs good, second with wide screen had heat issues due to fan placement was fixed by Toshiba it's 4 years old, third is wide screen and is performing flawlessly 2 years old.

Definately true!!!!!!! It's scary making the switch, but once you do, you'll wonder what took you so long.

Well than the acer it will most likely be there is a good one at wal-mart i hate that store tho. Wild, i am on my dads work computer so no pics until the new computer is up and running. Ours took a crash, how is an acer monitor?

We run an e-machine. It's a 2.6 GHz processor, with 180 gig hard drive and 1 gig of RAM.

It's a nice comp, once you get all the pre-installed garbage off.

We had an old one that we built that was just getting too slow for us, and picked up this one at Wal-mart for about $400.

Good luck! Our first computer was an e-machine with a 366 processor, and it ran for 7 years before it was finally laid to rest.
