I have tons of questions....
My husband and I are getting into chickens. We are certain that we want to feed organic feed. I have found a couple brands online. We live in Wisconsin and would like to buy locally, but if we can't find it will order online.
What brands do you use and like- also how long does it last for how many chickens?

Yeah, it seems as though Organic foods are a little harder to come by. We have our girls on Ranch Way Organic Starter and they love it --- its local to us here in Colorado. Maybe call around to some feed stores around you and see what they have.

Good luck!

I'm not a big fan of organic feed, a much better option in my opinion would be to use a natural start and grow or lay mash depending on how old you chickens are. My brand of choice is Integrifeed or King feed, the name just depends on what part of the country your in. Here in Phoenix its Integrifeed. Right now I have my 10week old hens on your basic start and grow, but at about 18-20 weeks I'll switch them over to the lay mash and the first few eggs they lay will be discarded due to the meds and chems in the initial feed.

I just ordered Countryside Organics (www.countrysidenaturals.com) but I'm in NC and there is a local reseller. I know shipping would be a lot but maybe if you found someone to split an order and bought enough at one time it would'nt be too bad??

Thank you. I will do more searching on this topic. I am very certain that I want to use organic feed and I am okay with the added costs.

Where in WI are you? I'm in SE WI. I considered taking a drive north to Jefferson County. There is a feed store there that sells organic. http://frankorganicfeed.com/ Our local feed store can order organic, but I haven't called their order gal yet to see how much it would be (or how much I would have to buy). I considered ordering from Countryside, but the shipping was $19.XX for a bag and...yeah... that is a lot for me to take in. LOL.

Thanks for the lead! We are about 40 minutes north of Milwaukee. Yeah, shipping is probably going to be pretty expensive since the weight of it.
