Nope no feathering on legs or feet. I kept waiting for her black feathers to come in to be a Light Sussex, then my husband found her 5 toes when she was about a month old, lol. I asked Sandhill preservation if they could be getting mixed light sussex, and she claimed no way. I think they have an escape artist, or they really don't know what they are doing. They never called me back, when I sent pictures investigating??
Sultans have 5 toes, but that is clearly not a sultan.
Could it be an accident?
hhhmmmm. That could be a interesting possibility. Here's another picture of one of the other birds we got sent that was suppossed to be Light Sussex. This one only has 4 toes thoughIt could be possible she is a genetic mutation. That would explain the 5th toe, and possible the "albino" appearance. I would look around and see if Sandhill has a reputation of inbreeding their birds multiple generations at a time.
