What breed? 5 Toes

As others have pointed out, don't forget Dorkings (plus the Sultans that lovinchicks metioned, that makes 5 breeds total ) Dorkings are the only non-crested or non feather-shanked of the 5 toed chickens so in my mind it makes it the most likely suspect for a cross. I don't remember their color variations though.

Since the toe on question is so small/atypical, I think it is at least only 1/2 and may even be 1/4 Dorking.

There was another thread recently asking the breeds of chicks they got from Sandhill Preservation and they were not true-to-breed either (I think the breeds in question were Marans and Sussex). Methinks they may have roosters sneaking in the wrong pens. Her eis a link to that thread:

That was my thread also. I didn't have that good of a go around with them, did I

I think my Egyptian Fayoumis I got from them are right, lol.

Oh, man I didn't catch that. When I saw your other thread that you had ordered mixed Marans I was thinking, 'they couldn't have meant they were mixed beofre they went in the egg??' I remember on the Marans the website said there was still variation in the colors on the Marans.

I am sorry for your trouble!

thanks for posting this i bought a small white chick today, fully feathered, with 5 toes (smear toe?) feathered pink feet, no crest, no comb or wattles, fluffy, but not silky. looks like the one you pictured. i'm guessing it's a cross between cochin and silkie. couldn't leave it, it was too cold out for a chick of 4-5 weeks. i guess i don't care at all that it's a mix, it's not for breeding. but your thread satisfied my curiosity somewhat.
