I was hoping the five toes would help. I think he may be part EE. But I am clueless on chickens.

Based on the muffs and five toes, I'm thinking he could have some Faverolle in him.

I too think he is part faverolle - the males are colorful but, not colored like yours

It is a clue. But, Faverolles have feathered legs and quite different coloring.

I'm not seeing any EE there, besides a beard.

Hatchery Rhode Island Red, aka production Red. Not really a "true" Rhode Island Red, but what passes for them in the majority of backyard flocks.
