What breed, and are they pullers or roosters?

Also, when do saddle feathers come through? I don't want to cull the pets without knowing for sure.
Saddle feathers, in my experience, come in by the time a bird is 5 months old. But, slower maturing breeds may take longer.

Oh noooo! My son was hoping to keep a white chicken, but I guess it's not meant to be

Those look IDENTICAL to the Red Sex Link birds I have from McMurray. No doubt. Red one's your only girl...they can be sexed at birth, which is why some of the redder ones were probably already snagged and the yellow fluffy ones were left.
My best friend has been Craigslist or Facebook Poultry forums for giving away roosters.
:)

There is no reason not to keep a rooster if it is allowed where you live, and you have a big enough yard so they aren't right outside your window crowing. If you are free ranging them, a rooster is definitely beneficial to lead and protect. It would be better to get at least a couple more hens though so the one isn't over mated with.

You just cannot keep all five roosters probably. You have to really get rid of four, unless you can cage them all separate or something, because they will fight. I'd pick the healthiest one that doesn't crow a lot, and eat or give away the others. I realize that's the hard part, but at least they are at a good age for eating, and people will probably take them for that purpose.

I might be in the same situation after my chicks hatch. Not looking forward to that part.

Thanks for your help everyone. Without you, I would have been wondering for weeks. After learning that they were Lohmanns, I searched the site for pictures, and found one showing a Lohmann;) rooster that looks EXACTLY like mine. This community is wonderful!

I can't keep roosters, as I live in the suburbs. Because of you guys, I also know that they are no good to sell off as breeding roosters, as they won't breed to type. Sadly, all 5 will go on the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to find a butcher that can do it for me, and I can put them to good use. I've heard they make yummy soup! ;)

See curve on white tail,rooster

That tail curve doesn't indicate male gender until it gets beyond standard tail length --- I have numerous hens with a tail curve like that or even worse, been eliminating it from the flock for a while. They're all proven hens, it's just genetic.

Best wishes.
