What breed and gender are these?

This is for my friend. She wants to know about these little cuties! I think they are blue orpingtons though I'm not sure.

Difficult to say at this age. Sometimes it helps to know where the chicks come from to check which breeds they sell. The bird in front is a cockerel and has red feather coming in on his hackle and that leads me to believe that he, at least, is a mix and not purebred.

So cute and pretty! Love the color! I agree that it is too early too tell. Maybe post again when they are older, maybe at least 2-3 months old and we should have better guesses. The one in the middle looks like its face is getting a little red and saddle feathers look suspicious, maybe a cockerel too? The one in a back is a pullet for sure though. Do you know what type of combs that they have? I can't really tell. If they don't have single combs they can't be Orpingtons.
