What breed (and maybe gender) is this?

It could be one of those gender confused chickens....
It looks to have some yellow or brown in its feathering. I don't agree with ve, it doesn't look like an older chicken, so I would lean toward a cockerel who just hasn't crowed and is missing a bunch of tail feathers.
As for breed, I think maybe a Barred Rock crossed with something else that gives it the yellowing and the white legs.

Yes...mine are boys. So, retract my "I think you have a girl" and replace with "looks like one of my boys". (Obviously, I'm not good at figuring this out all that well...but enjoy trying!)

I'm going to have to disagree with all the BR guesses. Looks cuckoo marans to me with those white legs, but a hen at that. Older, hence the larger comb and waddles. I don't see any pointed saddle feathers and the neck hackles aren't pointed enough for a roo either.
