This is my first turkey and I am wondering what breed it is, if it is a boy or girl and how tall it will be full grown. I don't have another turkey to compare it to be cause it's friend passed over a month ago. This turkey is about 3-4 months old, already 2.5 ft tall and I suspect it is about 20 lb. I am planning to get at least a couple more in the future.

The breed is Turkey. The variety is either a Broad Breasted White aka known as Giant White or a mixed variety but it definitely has broad breasted in it. It looks to be a young tom. I do not recommend keeping it as a pet or as a breeder.

If you like turkeys and wish to raise their poults it is better to have standard size or the miniatures. The large breeds were specifically produced for meat and meant for slaughter at a young age. Allowed to grow, they become so large they have serious heath problems and they are unable to reproduce naturally. Even my midget white tom (now three years old) has gotten so heavy he cannot mate with the hens.
