I have had such a hard time trying to figure out what breed my chickens/roosters are. Most of them look like this one and some have blue tail feathers and then others are mixed. So I'm really lost! I've also attached pictures from when we first got them!

The pic labeled “rooster” looks exactly like my red sex link hen Rosie- are you sure that’s a rooster? Rosie is definitely female, she’s my best layer with the biggest eggs. She is about 5.5 months old in that pic. How old are they?

Except that your Rosie is a red sexlink, light red with white 'accents', and a mature adult. The rooster pic has a darker shade through the shoulder area, which is a male trait, he's just too young to have is male saddle feathers grown in.

I got them from a friend of a friend of ours. He was not sure how many pullets or rooster their were and I couldn't remember if he had told me the breed or not. And they're just about 18 weeks old! I've gotten 6 large brown eggs in the past few days, but my older rock hens are moulting so I'm not sure if they're laying or if it's the pullets from this flock!

Chicks with variable coloring from a farmer are almost guaranteed to be mixes. Nothing wrong with mixes, they just aren't a breed.

As for who is laying, the first eggs from an 18 week pullet would be fairly small. If they're swimming in a carton space, it's a new girl. If they're a large to jumbo, they're hen eggs.

ETA: if I were to guess, he has production reds, a buff Orp rooster, and black sexlinks (females only) and these are crosses of those. But, I wouldn't put $ on it, there are plenty of possibilities.

Interesting, now that you point it out I see the difference.
