Good morning Members,

Could someone identify what breed these cute little black chicks are? thankyou

At this age, they could really be anything. For best guess, wait a few weeks until they are fully feathered.

Thankyou for the replies.. I was thinking they could be Wyandottes?

Your photos are hard to see detail...but if my eyes are correct and their legs are featherless...they are not Marans. While there are leg featherless Marans, their body type doesn't strongly suggest Marans...but it is very early to tell and a lot of breeds look very similar as chicks.

They are not Wyandottes as they have single combs. Wyandottes have rose combs...and at this stage that looks like a little inverted horseshoe with the luck running down the beak.

I think they are likely Black Sex Links and a Red or Gold Sex Link. Possibly the black ones could be Australorps.

Where did you get them?

My partner got the eggs and we hatched them. We have 16 of them and they are various breeds but not sure which breeds they are all!

I agree with Lady of McCamley; they are likely Black Sex Link females or Black Australorps (either sex in the case of BAs). However they are really too young to know for sure as there are several breeds whose chicks resemble yours. I would post their pics again in about a month. By then their identities should be much more evident.

I agree with these guesses.

I don't think that they are Marans.
