What Breed are These, Please?

I'm loving getting this information. Any suggestions on how to integrate these three with my brood of 23 almost 5-month old hens (and one boy guinea)? Thanks!

As far as age i'd say 6-8 months, no more. The roo's sickle feathers still aren't grown out all the way. His spurs look about right for this age too.

Do you have a way to keep them within sight of your existing flock with out letting them come into physical contact? If the birds have a chance to see each other, for example, on each side of a fence, for a short while it will give them a chance to get used to being around each other and will make integration much easier.

As your flock is younger but larger in numbers, and vice versa, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Give them a couple weeks with the fence between them. Toss a little scratch near the fence to have them peck together but they cant get to each other and see how they react. When you do let them out together make sure you can be there to supervise. It will also help if they can free range together the first few times out of their runs so the is less of a home turf issue.

I agree, since these three are a little older and they appear healthy, I'd say give them a day or two to see each other and then judt put them in, there may be a little pecking and pestering, but that would be normal and it should stop soon. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!

question on quarantine in a situation like this....
if she were moving in right now, and these rescued birds had something, wouldn't her flock be exposed to it even if they were kept separate? because whatever would be in the environment??
it sounds like the move wont be happening soon, would the cold weather kill off anything that the birds could catch from their new environment??

and since she is planning to move all the birds to this property later, is the quarantine necessary? i know she still wants to introduce them slowly,
how long have you been caring for them at the new property?? i think that would count towards the quarantine if people say still do it..
wow.. wish i had a whole different property to quarantine at.. lol...

good luck with your move

I would have to think that the amount of time the OP has been taking care of the 3 amigos would be part of the quarantine period. They have been under surveillance on a daily basis, and anything that is going to show up will show up at the new property or her current residence (just better for all if it pops up while at the new farm). Winter will not kill all bacteria,viruses,germs... Stuff like that can live in the ground, water tubs, on feeders for, some times, years. They do appear to be nice and healthy thoug, which is VERY good (but looks can be deceiving)!! YEAH for them & you!! Good luck!
