what breed are these roosters?

Hi I ordered 2 blue copper marans roosters from my pet chicken. They are now 7 months old and as you can see neither look like blue copper marans. I have been trying to figure out what they are and so far I have come up with the black one being a black cochin and the other a blue birchen marans. Any opinions???

Thanks for the replies. That's so odd because my pet chicken doesn't even offer birchen marans for sale so how could they send me one by mistake?

You're welcome. It's my understanding that My Pet Chicken gets its birds from Meyer Hatchery. Perhaps Meyer made the mistake and sent them some Birchen Marans chicks by mistake. It is a bit of a mystery though.

You're welcome. It's my understanding that My Pet Chicken gets its birds from Meyer Hatchery. Perhaps Meyer made the mistake and sent them some Birchen Marans chicks by mistake. It is a bit of a mystery though.

X 2 - as MPC is not itself a hatchery, it is at the mercy, so to speak, of what they receive from the hatchery they source from - if the chicks were sent to them as BCM, they would have just passed them on as such with no knowledge of what had happened.

Interesting...now I have not been able to find the birchen marans on any hatchery websites. Is this a rarer variety than the blue copper?

Hi again, so I contacted my pet chicken and they are telling me that both roosters are blue copper marans. They said the black one just has no bleed through and the other ones hackles are on the light side of the spectrum with extra bleed through. Can this be true? Here is another picture of the black one. He looks exactly like a black cochin. He is super fluffy and his legs and feet are copletely covered with feathers. Can anyone tell me what might be going on???

What color is the skin on the bottom of the feet? Marans should be white.
