What breed are these?

We just bought 7 of these chickens yesterday at an auction. Could anyone tell us what breed they are?

Look like either Red Sexlinks or some production breed.

Local auctions usually sell high production breeds, so I'm guessing you have Red Sex Links (AKA: Red Stars, Cinnamon Queens, etc.)

I just read that the Isa Brown IS a sex link cross - can you tell that I’m new to chicken-ing?!!!!! We need to get a rooster now, so what do I need to look for?!!

You need to look for a calm temprament, kind eyes, and the general healthiness you would look for in any chicken.

Will HAVE to have a roo in order to incubate eggs though!!! Just wondering what breed of roo I should get.... Thinking I probably need to get the same kind as the hens - whatever they are!!!!

I know nothing really about sexlinks - other than I won't get them again because I don't like to see their health go downhill at such an early age. So maybe this advice doesn't quite fit your situation. But - what is your plan for hatching? Just for yourself or are you planning to sell chicks? If just for yourself any roo will do if you don't mind mixes. If you're planning to sell then you'll want to know what these girls are and what breed roo to put over them so that you advertise correctly.

That said - production breeds are bred for egg laying and I've heard quite a few stories about rude production breed Roos. Not sure if that's the norm as I stay away from them now.

Oh- and I LOVE my Roos. But I say that ever chance I get
