So, I have this hen who I've had for a few months now. I thought her comb was a pea, All I know about her is she is an amerucana cross. I believe she lays brown eggs. I am not exactly sure where she was from/how old she is, but any help is appreciated!

I would probably call it a modified pea..

Looks *possibly* influenced by straight, though straight is recessive to pea technically speaking.

Looks like she has lightly feathered legs or is that optical illusion/other coop debris?

I would probably still call her an Easter egger (if anything other than barnyard cross).. since their is no standard of perfection (including egg color) but she does resemble them. Looks like a lovely lady!

She does have lightly feathered legs. I'm unsure if it is a modified pea. One of my other hens has one and it doesn't exactly look like hers.

Your other hen has a pea comb or a modified pea comb? Modified would not usually present exactly the same in separate birds. I'm telling you according to MY experience.. that's what I would call it. :)

With the feathered legs.. someone was *probably* or might have been attempting to breed an olive egger.

I never let it go at just what I think.. this thread is an interesting read and post #6 indicates THEY would call it a modified straight comb..

Either way.. it kinda shows how different genes effect one another.

I love a good mystery.. hope you're enjoying your chicken adventures!
