What breed do you have that is still laying in this cold weather?

I have RIR and Buff Orph, They have been laying all winter long, we just hit a hard cold snap has been -40 at night for past week and I am getting eggs from 16 chickens. They have slowed down a little but most of the time I get 12-14 really slow day I still get 9-10.

I have artificial light, so all my chickens are laying. I get an egg every other day from almost all of my hens except my 3 new cochins. I am getting about 1 egg a week or so from them (combined!) but that's ok, I bought them to hatch other eggs this spring for me so I really don't care if they lay or not

The light in my coop goes on at around 5:00 a.m. and shuts off at 7:30 a.m. then comes back on at 3:30 until 7:00.

I have 5 hens, 5 breeds. I've had many 5-egg days, and usually get 4.

White rock, black australorp, buff cochin, Egyptian Fayoumis, and Red Star. They started laying in mid July. The red star hasn't taken a day off since mid August, except for 1 day after she was sick.

They're all good producers for us.

Just turned the coop heat back off the other day, as the days are back to 35+, nights still around 20. Running incandescent lights on a timer for a few hours am and pm, to stretch the "day" to 13 hours.

My Rocks are out laying most everyone else breeds here locally. Even with snow 2" on the ground they are out foraging and giving me 10 to 14 eggs a day. We have had offers for our chicks but we are not selling till late fall after we hatch out to increase our own flock. We sell at hubbys work and have gotten customers from other sellers because their chicken are not producing even though they are this years hatch like ours.

Since finishing their 18 month molt in November, my brahma flock is back to full production. We recently had a nasty cold snap with temps. in the teens during the day, single digits at night; overcast skies every single day for a week at a time.

The girls didn't slow down one bit. Average of 7 eggs a day from 13 hens. Usually one day a week when production drops to 2 or 3.

We have 6 girls -- a Golden Comet and 5 undetermined red sex-links; all came from Tractor Supply -- and they have been laying one egg each non-stop. Occasionally one will take a break and skip a day after about 18 continuous days of laying. We supplement light in the mornings and let them have the natural sunset. We don't heat the coop. It amazes me how hard-working they are.

My 2 red sex links have been pretty faithful about laying every day despite the cold; then surprisingly, I just got an egg from my white leghorn (Lucy) yesterday. Of course, her philosophy has always been "anything you can do, I can do better!" so I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised.

My Dominiques are laying like it's summertime, and my rose comb rhode island whites are giving me 5 eggs from 6 hens everyday. RIW's are known for their wintertime laying capabilities.

i've had a red heat light in the coop since the middle of Dec.- temps range from 9 to 30 daily - 11 hens and getting 6 or 7 a day. the only problem is that they have started laying under the nesting boxes in the straw on the floor - don't know what is up with that.
