Not for this year, but to try to engage kids' interest in as an excuse to get a couple next year

I know brahmas and cochins and silkies are often used as broodies for other eggs, but they are all featherfooted and I just don't want to deal with that. Is there anything of similar (or anyhow decent) inclination to go broody, that would be appropriate for the north, that has nekkid feeties?

My chanteclers have shown a tendancy toward being broody and my best mama is one of my chantecler hens. They are very cold hardy and an excellent choice in my opinion.

What about Buff Orpingtons? I have 2, but they are still babies. They are clean legged/footed, have great personalities and tend to be broody. I don't know how winter-hardy they are, but it seems like they would be with all those feathers!
