chickyorama -- partly I'm just not into it aesthetically, but mostly I just don't want feathered feeties that get all pooey and snowy and icy and so forth (even with a roofed run, snow gets in). Nothing against 'em for other people, just an extra minor hassle I don't feel like hassling with, you know?
Chickapooh -- I've read several places that buckeyes don't do as well as some breeds in confinement. I can't free range, and don't like unrest in the chicken house, so am a little leery of them for that reputation...?
BeardedChick -- thanks for the link! That's interesting. I dunno as I want an especially "fierce" broody though (beyond the nature of the job I mean). If I were freeranging that'd be differetn. I'll have to think about it though!
