okay guys, I'm wanting to know. what are the broodiest breeds? i know silkies are very likely to go broody but are there others with a stronger tendanancy?

Sorry, don't have an answer to your question. But I plan to let my silkie sit on eggs from my Welsummer, Orpington, and Araucauna. Probably no more than 8-9 total though. That might be pushing it.

My two buff orpingtons have gone broody. Both of them were great momma's too! I had to take the chicks away from the last one though. She has a deformed wing and was not able to cover all nine of them with the one wing, so I took them away from her. It took her almost 4 days to get over not having her babies! She would run back and forth along the fence trying to get to her babies. I guess she could still hear them. Poor girl.
