My guineas are great in the garden. They will even pick oof the little tiny bugs off your plants. I have actually seen them take a stem or leaf and run thier beak down it to get the bugs without harming the plant.

I wouldnt trust any birds in my garden full time, especially chickens. Though I have before put my ducks in the fence in garden area for a little while and watched them the whole time to make sure they didnt mess up anything and the did pretty well about only eatting the grass and weeds. And this was in Tomatoes and Peppers by the way. They may be different with other plants.
